"A pusher for driver Todd Hays and the USA-1 sled, Steve Mesler will make his Olympic debut in Torino. A 2002 Olympic alternate, Mesler began driving in addition to pushing during the 2002-03 season, but knew his best chance to get to the Olympics was pushing for Hays, so he focused solely on pushing from then on. Hays drove USA-1 to a fifth-place finish at the 2005 Worlds, and the sled climbed as high as second in the World Cup standings last season, but it ended up sixth after the sled ran over Hays' foot and the team had to miss the final three events."
